CITRUS AFTERSHAVE
50ml- alcohol (vodka is a suitable alcohol to use)
50ml- floral water of clove (distilled water is also suitable)
20 drops- lime essential oil
10 drops- orange essential oil
5 drops- French lavender
5 drops- patchouli
10 drops- bay oil
1 tsp. Benzoin tincture.
Instructions: Add the essential oil blend to alcohol base, and allow the oils to disperse. Add this to the floral water, and then finally mix in the tincture of benzoin. Witch hazel can also be added to this aftershave. Allow this to mature for 2 weeks, then pour into a dark bottle and attach an atomizer.
Description: Benzoin is derived from a resin. The Benzoin tree is from Java, Sumatra and Thailand. It grows up to 8 meters (20 feet) in height, and it is extracted when deep incisions are made in the trunk of the tree. The grayish color sap exudes and when it becomes hard and brittle, it is collected from the bark. The benzoin tincture has a characteristic sweet, balsamic, vanilla like scent. The Benzoin Tincture is for external use only, and is suitable as a mild stimulant and as an antiseptic.
