Hi there,

I'd just like to know if propylparaben and methylparaben are considered natural preservatives. I've read somewhere that they are organic compounds.

Also, given the choice of using Vit E or the parabens as a preservative, which is a better recommendation? and what percentages do I use for each type?

Would appreciate some guidance on this!

Cheers
Audrey

Hi Audrey,
These are not natural preservatives, they are synthetic.

Vitamin E is an anti-oxidant and prevents a product going rancid. Does not act as a preservative to prevent bacteria growing.

Parabens are synthetic. If you click on our website and go to raw material and then presrvatives you have a choice to choose from.

Plantaserv P is a synthetic preservative with no scent and plantaserv N,Q ans S are completely natural. 1% to 3% is used to sufficiently preserve a product.

There is a description for each preservative. Have a read through each one.

We have some great books with recipes and instructions. Have a look throuhg our books buy clicking on to books icon and have a browse.
