Hi all, I'm a massage therapist and need help on deciding what oil to massage with!
I've worked with Grapeseed and Almond oil. But i found the Almond oil heavy and staining but like it's properties. Is grapeseed just as good? or would soya be better alternative?
What oil to do find the best and why?

Hi Donna,
I usually use a massage blend or macadamia oil, myself. Soyabean oil is also an excellent oil for body and massaging and rich in vitamin E.

Grape seed is good for all skin types and has vitamins, minerals and proteins to benefit the skin. It is light and spreads easily.

Soya bean oil is in the middle on a scale of heaviest to thickest, when comparing to other vegetable oils.

Some oils have specific properties such as:

sweet almond oil-for itching, dryness and inflammation

olive oil-for rheumatic conditions and soothing the skin

sesame oil- for rheumatism and arthritis

A small bottle of these for your needy clients can be kept in the fridge and/or in a cool, shady place and used at 10% to 50% with your carrier oil.
Both our standard or premium massage oil blends are suitable.

Hi Donna,

you could buy a small bottle of several, say 17mls and try them on a couple of friends to see what they say. You could also check out the waterbased massage oils. I used to use one many years ago and I found it had good "slip" without leaving my hands overly oily.
