Hi,

I've just purchased some products from NDA and am wondering if I should refridgerate them for longer shelf life. I'm currently in a humid country with room temperature of about 28deg celsius. Could you advise on the following?

- Solubiliser
- Cocoa Butter
- Flavouring (Peach Butterscotch etc)
- Plantaserv Q
- Vitamin E
- Grapeseed Extract
- Floral Waters (Chamomile, Rose, Lavender & Orange)
- Carrier Oils (Jojoba, Almond Sweet)

I was told that Avocado and Evening Primrose oils go rancid really fast. How fast is fast and will i help if i were to refridgerate them?

Appreciate your help!

Audrey

Hi, I am going to Uganda in January for two weeks to work in a town called Kabale. I would love to be able to help them start a small business venture making skin care products. I have no idea what is available there as far as raw materials go and would probably take what I need. Once there, I would need to see what they have available. What I wanted to ask was, what do you suggest as something simple for them to be able to make without a lot of complicated ingredients and could you supply a few recipes? Thanks.

Hi,

Are your carrier oils of 500ml and above stored in glass or plastic bottles? Thanks.

Hi
Could you give me some information about Plantaserv Q please. What sort of shelf life could you expect from products using Plantaserv Q? Do you or could you use it in conjunction with citricidal? If so at what percentages would you use both? Is it more potent than citricidal?
What is the best product or products to use to have the longest shelf life for natural skincare products?
Many thanks
Lesley

TEMPORARY SOLUTION TO WATERPROOFING LABELS.

I have a colour jetink printer which prints off my label designs onto labelling paper, but this isn't waterproof. I am going to get a colour laser printer, but in the meantime, what I have done is bought the clear vinyl labels for lasers. They can be applied over the top, thus making labels waterproof. I say they are only temporary because the cost of using 2 lots of labels would get expensive if dealing with large amount.

Hi all,
I am wanting to put together a "headlice repellant" to spray on my children's hair before they go to school. I have purchased (from ND of course) eucalyptus, tea tree, rosemary, lavender, thyme and neem oil and would like to know a recipe or suggestion on how to put them together - ie: how many drops of each and how to incorporate the Neem oil (very bad smelling!)
Thanks!!

Hi there,

I was just wanting to know how/if the changes to the Dangerous Goods and Hazardous Substances legislation in the OHS Act will change the information you supply about your products?

I understand that there are certain circumstances under which MSDS sheets do and don't need to be provided. I have often found it difficult when ordering products to find out firstly if they are classified as a dangerous good (e.g. if they are a flammable or combustible liquid etc as some EOs are) and then to get an MSDS for the product. I know that the MSDSs only need be supplied for goods which are classified in this way, but as I purchase products to for manufacture for sale, I need to be able to store those MSDS sheets now in a register and I need to work out if I ever have enough of the different classifications onsite to warrant notification of WorkCover.

Would it be possible to supply the MSDS sheets with future orders for any products which are classified as dangerous goods etc rather than having to file through the specifications to find that there is no MSDS sheet available or that there are several and then trying to work out which batch you have and which batch the MSDS sheet is for? This would be most helpful!!

Kind Regards,
Natasha

Hi, The specifications for the aloe vera powder say to use it in a 1:200 ratio. Can it be mixed directly into for ex, a cream or does it need to be mixedwith water first? Also, if used diluted, for ease of incorporating into a cream, what percentage should it be diluted to in order to be in an effective concentration?
Thanks,
Liz.

Are the Food Colourings Sold here Natural in that they don't contain artificial colours? I am used to using liquid colourings. How much of the powder needs to be used to colour say 250ml of product?

Question about dying salt.

I've tried to dye some of my bath salts purple, but am having no luck. I used food dye, mixing red and blue and they came out green! It only turned to purple once the salt was diluted by water. Tried diluting the salt then adding. No luck. Tried mixing blue dye with beetroot juice. No luck.

If anyone has any ideas on how to get colour to stay fast in salt, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

I am very interested in the production of cosmetic grade macadamia oil. Can you describe the process of making the cosmetic grade oil and do you know what companies actually process the oil from crude oil to the finished product. Thankyou

Hi, I am looking through the specifications and got confused on the numerous copies of them on every product. I understand that this is probably due to different batch number of the product.

For all I know, my product might expire in a few months time, while I thought that it could last for a year, etc. How do I tell what batch of the product am I purchasing since the cart content does not display the corresponding batch number?

Thanks in advance.

Important Link

If you are thinking of selling your products then you need to look at this link regarding labelling requirements, if you don't already know them.

There is an adobe link to download the pamphlet.

I would be interested in purchasing Lactic Acid and Vitamin C if you can confirm the following:

1. Is it L-LACTIC ACID, and is it in powder form or liquid form. If liquid, what percentage concentration is it?

2. I am assuming your Vitamin C is in powder for, but is it L-ASCORBIC ACID.

The "L-" forms of these acids are more readily absorbed by skin cell receptors.

Hi, I did not find in Specifications the COA for vitamin c. Could you please post it.
Thank you.

I also have another question, I am looking to make a soothing cream for use after waxing. Can you suggest some products that would help with redness and cooling these areas.

Thanks

I am new to making my own skin care products and have viewed some of the recipes on your site and I also have a book with recipes in it. However, I am unsure of shelf life and what preservatives I can add to increase the life of the cream. Can you please suggest an all round preservative, if there is such a thing, or give me some ideas as to the best ones to use.

I hve been making Air Freshner containing alcohol, demineralised water and Essential Oils from ND. The product has been very successful and every one loves it but I am wondering. What is the difference between and were do you get purrified, demineralised (which is the only water I can find), and distilled water I have asked in health food shops and they have know idea which I find a bit strange. Also I am using Vodka in my mix acting as preservative and to stop droplets pooling onto furniture etc. I have made enquiries at the local chemist regarding alcohol absolute which can be ordered in for me 2ltrs $45.00 which is more economical than 700ml vodka at $25.00 I have been reading the various questions on the forum and noted ethanol mentioned is the the same thing? do you sell this and/or do you have any other suggestions as to what I could use. I appreciate any info you are able to give me. I use 50ml of Vodka per batch. Just also to let others know I have ordered with New Directions twice and found the company reliable, informative and very helpfull.
Thanks
Vicki

Hi, I am wondering if the lanolin isold in your store has leftovers from the chemicals used on sheeps. In the past, lanolin was not recommended to use.
Do you control what's in?
Which ingredient could I use instead of lanolin?
Thanks for answering,
kind regards Nicola
