Hello, I am new to oils and aromas. I was wondering if you could help me. I want to make soap, not from a soap base, but with olive oil, coconut oil and lye. I would like to know if essencial oils smell as much as fragrant oils and how fast they loose theyr properties in soap (they will be added at trace level). Are your essencial oils of medical grade... can they be swalloed? In very small amouts of course or do they have chemical products? I know vitamin E is a preservative, but is it good to be used with any type of substance that needs a preserver? Or do i need special types of preservers? Vitamin E, Benzoin etc... Thank you so much for your time. Best regards.

Duarte
Hi Duarte, You will find the answers to your questions in either of these books I have listed below.

Essential oils are not for ingestion. All our essential oils are pharmaceutical grade and not food grade. We are not a food supplier so we do not recommend the use of our essential oils for consumption.

Regarding preservatives, we have a few to choose from. Vitamin E both natural and synthetic are used as preservatives and we have completely natural blends also.

When making soaps it's important to follow the recipe exactly. A slight change can make a big difference to the end product.
Fragrant oils are synthetic and the scent will linger for longer. Essential oils are naturally derived and also have beneficial properties. The main benefits passed on in the soaps are the anti-bacterial properties and on an emotional level, can be uplifting, refreshing, warming, calming, just to list a few.
