I know that certain essential oils are not recommended to be used during pregnancy. However, does this apply to all applications such as shampoo and facecream. Or is it only if you have a full body massage? Thanks.

Annie
Using a moisturiser or a face wash are also methods to allow absorption of essential oils into the body. To use essential oils during pregnancy is a personal choice, there are certain essential oils however, that should definitely be avoided these are:
Parsley Leaf and seed
Dill seed
Pennyroyal
Wormwood - virage
Himalayan Cedarwood
Turmeric
Fennel – sweet and bitter
Aniseed
Star anise
Camphor
Savin
Nutmeg
Sage
Rue
Wintergreen
Yarrow
Hyssop
Birch

hi annie,
i used essential oils diluted in a carrier oil throughout both of my pregnancies, especially to massage my growing belly and breasts. I used less drops than usual, and stuck with the safest oils such as Lavender and Chamomile.
Good luck.

Hi Annie,

I purchased a comercial face cream containing some essential oils when pregnant recently. I found it caused morning sickness and when I discontinued use the morning sickness abated - no it wasn't just a coincindence as I tryed it a number of times.

I did use some gentler oils in body creams with no effect, so my advice is to use only recommended products for a short time.
