Hi, I am new to aromatherapy. I notice that in some aromatherapy receips, it is indicated to use 1% or 2% or 3% of essential oil. Is there a formula to calculate, say if I have only 25ml of carrier oil, how many drops or ml of essential oil can I drop in to conform to safety standard.

Josephine
Hi Josephine,

This is a guideline and not a safety standard. The essential oils you choose play a part as does the treatment and area of the body you are creating a blend for.

Then there is a persons health and you need to take into account, any medication they are taking and a variety of other factors.

It is better to stick to a recipe, than create you own, as an understanding of essential oils and their properties is important before creating products for safe use.
I hope this information is useful.

Nadine
Thanks Nadine for your reply. I understand your point but I am hoping that you have a formula to calculate.
