Hi
How do you use the benzoin resinoid gum in cream formulations - added to water or oil phase? And in what quantities? Can you use it instead of grapefruit seed extract? or do you use both?
Many thanks
Lel

Lesley
Hi Lesley,
The benzoin resin is added to your creams at the cooling stage at about 45%. You need to leave the bottle sitting in a glass of hot water for a few minites to make it more liquid. The benzoin will help preserve your product and will also act as a fixative, to maintain the fragrance you have added to your cream. Use 1% of benzoin and 1% of grape seed extract to preserve your cream and store in a cool, dry shady place. We have many books available on our website with some great recipes. Aromatherapy Handbook of Beauty & Hair - Books at $33.95 before GST is just one.
Enjoy your day!
